The right wavelength
The Vbeam laser delivers its energy using a wavelength of 595 nm that passes through the dermis and epidermis layers, the energy is absorbed by the oxyhemoglobin in the blood vessels without affecting the surrounding tissues. 1064 nm wavelength has higher penetration rate which makes it the wavelength of choice in treating bigger blue veins.
The pulse duration effect
By changing the pulse duration, treatments can be performed purpurically (with bruising) by rupturing the blood vessel, or sub-purpurically by slowly heating the
vessel causing coagulation of the blood vessel.
The pulse duration is inversely proportional with the laser ability to rupture the blood vessels, Vbeam Prima provides choices of pulse duration from 0.45-40 msec and guidelines to select the suitable parameters for different sizes & types of lesions.
